2 friends the best of buddies …..Kelabailu Ramakrishniah and Seetharamaiah Bhatt do everything together… going to school…dreaming of wealth, prosperity and being for each other in all sad and happy moments. Life goes on … they work for livelihood, find suitable alliances and marry and are like 2 happy families leading   peaceful village life….

Kelabailu Ramakrishniah and his wife and Seetharamaiah and his wife are like the 2 best families… which every villager envy’s….and to extend their bond , Kelabailu Ramakrishniah decides to get his son Abhishek Athreya married to Seetharamaiah’s daughter Dakshayan even when they are too small to understand the meaning of marriage.

The village livelihood does not fulfill the dreams of bug house, lavish life of Kelabailu Ramakrishniah and he decides to move to city after few years to chase the eternal dream. Seetharamaiah is content with his life in village and life goes on… but the promise of getting their kids married stays.

Meanwhile Abhishek falls in love with an Orphan girl named Amrutha and promises to give her the family life which she always longed for and they eventually marry much against the wishes of his father Kelabailu Ramakrishniah who cannot accept that fact that his son has gone against his wishes and he cannot fulfill the promise of getting his son married to his best friends daughter….he decides to part with his son and is not in talking terms with both his son and daughter in law.

Kelabailu Ramakrishniah cannot withstand this agony and his health deteriorates and he dies. Abhishek is shattered with his father’s death and to add to his agony, Amrutha is detected with brain tumor and she too dies….. Meanwhile Seetharamaiah’s gets his daughter Dakshyani married to Lambodara from a neighboring village the typical male chauvinist. Dakshyani does not have a blissful marriage and is tortoured by her mother in law and husband for not conceiving even after 3 years of marriage. So finally Lambodara sends Dakshyani to her father’s place and marries other woman.

Abhishek who is distraught with fathers and wife death …comes for some peace to his native village and stays for some days with Seetharamaiah. Seeing the Abhisheks attitude and his daughter condition, Seetharamaiah asks Abhishek to marry his daughter, thus giving peace to Abhisheks father’s soul and also to resettle both of them.

Eventually they marry and have a girl child and are happy……while Lambodara turns out to be impotent the cause for his second wife to leave him.

 

Lambodara realizes that Dakshyani was good and he starts loving her and returns back to Daskhyani…… where the twist and turn starts…….

10Th Chitra Film Festival (CFF) 2018

The 1st edition of IFFI was organised by the Films Division, Government of India, with the patronage of the first Prime Minister of India. Held in Mumbai^[2] from 24 January to 1 February 1952, the Festival was subsequently taken to Madras, Delhi, Calcutta and Trivandrum.^[5] In all it had about 40 features and 100 short films. In Delhi, the IFFI was inaugurated by Prime Minister Pt Jawaharlal Nehru on 21 February 1952.^[6]

The first edition was non-competitive, had 23 countries including the United Statesparticipating with 40 feature films and about a hundred short films. The Indian entries for the festival were Awara (Hindi), Patala Bhairavi(Telugu), Amar Bhoopali (Marathi) and Babla (Bengali). This was the first International Film Festival held anywhere in Asia. The notable films shown during the festival were Bicycle Thieves, Miracle in Milan, Rome, Open Cityfrom Italy. Yukiwarisoo (Japan), The Dancing Fleese (UK), The River (USA) and The Fall of Berlin (USSR).

It was for the first time that the Indian Film Industry was exposed to a vast range of outstanding post-war era films. From the 3rd edition in January 1965, IFFI became competitive. It has since then moved to Trivandrum, capital of Kerala. In 1975 the Filmotsav, non-competitive and to be held in other film-making cities in alternate years, was introduced. Later, Filmotsavs were merged in IFFI. In 2004 the IFFI was moved to Goa from Trivandrum. Since then IFFI has been an annual event and competitive.^[7] The venue for the second festival held in 1961 which was also non-competitive was New Delhi. The third edition of the festival was chaired by Satyajit Ray. For the first time the festival became competitive, and was graded ‘A’ category by the Paris - based Federation International de Producers de Films.^[8] With this recognition the festival in India came on par with Cannes, Berlin, Venice, Karlovy Varyand Moscow International film festivals.^[9]

Following this recognition, India adopted, at its fifth festival in 1975, a permanent insignia. This comprises a representation of the peacock, India’s national bird, with a permanent motto of the festival ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ (The whole world is a family). The same year it was decided to hold a non-competitive festival of festival films (Filmotsav) alternating with IFFI. While the Filmotsavs were orgnaised at major film - producing centres of India, IFFI was held in New Delhi only.^[9]

The venue being the same for all festivals, the fourth and fifth festivals were held from 5–18 December 1969 and 30 December 1974-12 January 1975 respectively. From the sixth festival onwards the period as well as the dates for the festival were fixed as 3–17 January every alternate year. The sixth festival was held in 1977 and silver peacock for best actor, actress and director was awarded for the first time. A film market was also set up for the first time by the IMPEC. The Indian Panorama section was instituted from this edition.^[9]

1 9 70 और 80 के दशक को कन्नड़ सिनेमा के स्वर्ण युग के रूप में घोषित किया गया है। यह वह अवधि भी थी जो वैकल्पिक सिनेमा या समानांतर सिनेमा का जन्म साक्षी करती थी। कन्नड़ सिनेमा ने भारत में बंगाली और मलयालम सिनेमाघरों के साथ समानांतर सिनेमा आंदोलन का नेतृत्व किया। बी वी करंथ की चोमाना दुडी - जाति भेदभाव पर एक उत्थानकारी फिल्म, गिरीश कर्नाद का कादु और गिरीश कासरवल्ली के घटश्रद्धा ने कन्नड़ समांतर सिनेमा का नेतृत्व किया। वामश्वरुक्ष, प्रेमा करंथ की फन्यामा, कडु कुद्र, हम्मेगेते, दुर्घटना, अक्रमण, मुरु धाहरिगलु, तबराना कैथ, बन्नधा वेशा, इस दशक की कुछ महत्वपूर्ण फिल्में थीं। पुणे की एफटीआईआई के स्वर्ण पदक विजेता गिरीश कासारवल्ली, 1 9 77 में पहली फिल्म घटश्रद्धा ने उन्हें सर्वश्रेष्ठ फिल्म के लिए राष्ट्रीय पुरस्कार जीता। उन्होंने अपनी नवीनतम फिल्म द्विपा के लिए चार बार सर्वश्रेष्ठ फिल्म के लिए राष्ट्रीय पुरस्कार जीता है। उनकी पुरस्कार विजेता फिल्मों में अक्रमण (1 9 7 9), मुरु धाहरिगलु (1 9 81), तबराना कैथ (1 9 87), बन्नधा वेशा (1 9 8 9), माने (1 9 8 9), क्रौर्य (1 99 6), ताय साहेबा (1 99 8) और दवेपा (2002) शामिल हैं। गिरीश कर्णद का काडू (1 9 73), ओंडानोंडु कलादल्ली (1 9 78), एम.एस. सैथू के कन्नेश्वर राम (1 9 77), चितूगु चिन्ते (1 9 78), पट्टाभी राम रेड्डी के संस्कार (1 9 70) इस दशक की कुछ महत्वपूर्ण फिल्में थीं। इस दशक में पुट्टाना कनगल का उदय भी देखा जाता है, जिसे व्यापक रूप से कन्नड़ फिल्म इतिहास में सबसे महान निदेशक के रूप में स्वीकार किया जाता है। बेलीमोडा, गीजजे पूजे, शारपंजारा, साक्षीतकारा, नागारा हावु जैसी उनकी फिल्मों ने फिल्म बनाने की नई शैली खरीदी जो वाणिज्यिक और समांतर सिनेमा के बीच एक पुल के रूप में काम करता था। फिल्म बनाने को लोकप्रिय बनाने के लिए, 1 9 80 के दशक में कर्नाटक सरकार ने कर्नाटक में पूरी तरह से कन्नड़ फिल्मों को 50 प्रतिशत कर छूट दी और कन्नड़ फिल्मों में सब्सिडी राशि में वृद्धि हुई।
